Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society

Wolverine Nordic & Mountain Society

WNMS promotes and develops all aspects of people-powered outdoor recreation in the Tumbler Ridge area, including the creation, maintenance, and improvement of hiking trails, cross country ski trails, and wilderness recreation facilities

WNMS has been at the heart of Tumbler Ridge’s trail system for over 30 years. Founded in 1992, the society has developed and maintained over 100 kilometres of non-motorized trails used year-round for hiking, running, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.

The club is also the organizer of the Emperor’s Challenge, one of British Columbia’s most iconic mountain races. Held each summer, the race brings hundreds of participants to Tumbler Ridge to experience alpine terrain on foot.

WNMS is guided by a belief that access to nature should be protected, shared, and celebrated. Their work is grounded in stewardship—ensuring trails are safe, respectful of the land, and open to everyone.

Whether you’re lacing up for a race or heading out for a quiet ski, WNMS makes it possible to explore the landscape one trail at a time.
